Leather Framed Art of Abstract Figures
ART-005
Mid-Century abstract art, dated 1962, with a storied provenance. Signed “Miguel Bohen 62”, in the upper right corner. Rendered in ink on paper, an abstract array of female figures wearing hourglass-shaped patterned dresses, and other abstract motifs, illustrated through varying line weights and pen strokes. This art piece was elevated and preserved, exclusively by THE TASTEMAKER SHOPPE. Originally found/received without a frame - we added a rich, dark leather, custom frame that complements its natural, worn elements. The original linen matte was kept, as anything too new felt contradicting. It’s protected with premium museum quality glass.
This piece is particularly special because it was originally placed by legendary interior designer Michael S. Smith in famous actor Jim Belushi’s Brentwood, California estate. Smith is one of the most esteemed talents in the design industry today, known for blending European classicism and American modernism. His work is layered and tailored with California, casual refinement. His A-List clients include the White House for America’s 1st black President and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama; other politically historical figures and Hollywood heavyweights - Steven Spielberg, Cindy Crawford, Dustin Hoffman, George Clooney, Harrison Ford, and Rupert Murdoch. Early on, he apprenticed under legendary antiques dealer Gep Durenberger and iconic designer John Saladino, prior to opening interior design firm, Michael S. Smith Inc, and creating Jasper – a line of furniture and fabrics (sold exclusively to the trade.) As a Curator & Interior Designer, these are the storied pieces I seek – knowing it will transcend time, always in style, never trendy. A treasured find for collectors and enthusiasts of one-of-a-kind pieces. If you enjoy a story with great provenance, this is for you!
