Rossi Antiques was founded by Luis Rossi, an immigrant from Argentina in 1983, after many years of apprenticing in Italy and Latin America. He’s a passionate collector with a profound appreciation for provenance and artifacts with rich deep-rooted stories. In the world of antiquities, he’s considered a luminary. He’s known for preserving centuries old manufacturing techniques using master skilled workers, carvers, French polishers, the best of the best artists, and craftsmen to restore rare antique furniture and objects of art. In 1997 Rossi created his own line of furniture and antique reproductions, distributed through select designer showrooms. Rossi designed and patented a manually expandable table named, “Avolo Trastevere,” a framed two way mirror that conceals a flat TV, and an expandable motorized table (which operates via remote control) called “Evolution Table”. The table became a coveted item, reflecting his ingenuity and dedication to enriching everyday life through superb craftsmanship. Famed designer Alberto Pinto bought one of his tables for his Paris flat, as featured in “Look Inside Linda Pinto’s Luxurious Paris Apartment”, Architectural Digest, May 2015, p. 193.
His collaboration with Ann Getty, San Francisco’s legendary philanthropist and interior designer, was cemented by a shared vision for elevating the beauty and history of antiques within modern spaces, creating environments that were sophisticated and rich in historical significance. For the Anne Getty Home collection, he created reproductions of her Anglo-Dutch Queen Anne Chairs, gilt Louis XV chairs, water-gilded Georgian side chairs, and a tortoiseshell bookcase. In collaboration, they curated some of the world’s most exquisite interiors, featured in magazines and books around the world.
With his eye for beauty and reverence for the past, he curates bespoke pieces that speak to the soul, bridging the gap between styles and eras. Through his collections, Luis Rossi’s legacy will continue to inspire generations of collectors, reminding us all of the prominent significance of preserving history in a rapidly changing world.
